this transfer as we have been reading the book of mormon again, elder powell and i really liked Captian Moroni. he is a real man. and while we were reading about and thinking about him. we decided to make it a goal to be like moroni in allwe do. not because he was a great man, but because he too followed the saviors example very well, so i guess you could say we are trying harder to be like christ. but anyways, moroni always got it done, and he worked hard and he was fearless. so many good things. so basically what this ended up leading to is that we were doing weekly planning last week and while we were thinking about something, (i forgot exactly what) the Lord taught us something. we learned (or rather it was brought back to our rememberance) that we need to bodly decalre this gospel and how important the baptismal invitation is. in the training book(the first 12 weeks), there is a part(the self assessment) that talks about how within the first lesson you shoul invite the investigator to be baptized, and by the second invite them to be baptized on a specific date. there is an odd taboo around the baptismal invitation among missionaries(incluing me and elder powell) its like we can tach as much as we want, go as deep in the lessons a s we want, but for some reason, whenaver we talk about inviting the investigator to be baptized, all of these thoughts come and you think 'what if they arent ready?' and 'it will hurt our relationship' and 'they will think we are weird!' and as weird as we are. its as if satan is telling us that we can do anything we want with our investigators, but dont invite them to be baptized! that just cant be the right thing to do. so to make a long story short. we learned that we need to be mor bold in teaching people, bold and with love Alma38 talks alot about how to be bold. we need to invite them to be baptized. but as we have done this we have felt better, and in all honesty there is no doubt in my mind that it is the right way to go. i know that the lord lives and that he has a plan for us even when we dont understand it very well. but if we trust him it will all work out.
