Helloo everyone! i got some big news! i have a new companion!!! his name is Le Jaebok and his flight lands at 6pm this evening. Elder Wienken got transfered to my old area gyeongju. he is going to love it there i know it he is such a great missionary. I dont know too much about my new companion except for his name. i have heard good things about him so im not to worried at all. ill have to send you a picture of him next week however, wont get that chance today.
this last week of the transfer was really really good. there were two things that i really thought were wonderful that happend this week. the first was a member made us tacos!!! korean-style mexican food... they were pretty good, they even had sour cream so it was great. and the second thing that happende was with our new investigatro Kim Eunpa. he is a farmer who has met with the missionaries many times but has always been dropped due to his lack of effort in progressing and keeping comittments. one day while elder Wienken and I were out on the streets it started pouring rain so we decided to switch activities for a little while and went to go try and call some former investigators. and when he called hiim he was happy to meet. so a few days later we met him and he was a really nice guy, however he told us that he had no interest in doing things like keeping comitments or anything of that nature. but he agreed to meet agin. and the next time we met with him we read moroni chapter 6 together, and he then asked a few questions like "what is baptism in your church" and so we naturally decided to answer the one about baptism first. so we wnt along explaining that in our churh we believe in baptism by immersion by one holding the proper authority. and stressed the imporance of priesthood authority. then elder wienken in spite of fear askend him to be baptized! which he openly rejected... and proceeded to tell us how eh thought that the only thing we need is to be "tight with jesus" for lack of a better translation. which is true, but you need ordinances performed by proper authority as well. so we were sitting there for a little bit trying to think what we could say to him because no amout of logic can change a person's mind. and then the idea came to 'tell him that you love him' and sop that is what we did. we told him that we love him and want the best for him and that is why we are in korea for two years of my life. we could be in college right now dating earning money and doing all sorts of fun things. honestly if we didnt thing what we are telling you right now was important we would not have come to korea. but we know that this church is true and there is a living prophet on the shurch today who has the priesthood authority of God and onlt the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has this authority. we even showed him the ministerial certificate we carry. and then for a while it was silent. nobody really knew what to say. so we asked him aging. 'if you come to know that this church is true, will you be baptized by someone holding the proper priesthood authority?" and you want to know what he said, he said "that question is meaningless, because if God says that this church is true, then a person has no other choice but to join it". when i heard that my heart leaped in my chest. ans so we asked him to pray to know if this church was the true church of God on the earth today and promised him that if he did so with real intent that the Lord would andswer his prayer and he would find eternal happiness. and he said that eh would do it.
we meet him again tomorrow at 3pm. Please pray for this man because he is so close it hurts.
tyhe rest of the week was just continual effort until the week was done. oh today i sat in a hospital for 2.5 hours whil elder fronberg had something checked out but it turns out it was nothing so it all was fine. im actually in Jeju city right now until my companion's flight gets in.
i hope you all have agreat week!!
love,
