Id say life is going pretty great right about now. i think im finally getting the hang of being an Office Assistant, but i still have a lot to learn. it is good though. Oh by the way i don't think i told you yet, but i have a Korean Driver's License and Can Drive! Driving in Korea is very different from driving in america however. you see in america, pretty much everyone follows the rules, and there is a distinct right-of-way system, and for the most part, you don't really have to worry all that much about people doing crazy unpredictable things. in Korea, its a little different. the taxi drivers do pretty much whatever they want, buses as well. and the scooters are EVERYWHERE. they are always flying up and down both sides of the road. in between lanes, you name it, a man driving a scooter has done it. needless to say, im learning a lot about defensive driving.
The rest of the work that we do in the office is just office work, we do a lot of stuff that deals with mail, and organizing and setting up meetings. ji guess to give you all a good picture of what we do, i could say, everything that nobody knows has to get done, we do. kind of like the the people back stage who set up and take down. i like it. as ive been working here, ive been learning a lot about how important it is to just be aware. aware of everything that is going on and.or needs to get done. im very grateful for this opportunity.
the next thing, our investigators! As of right now, we have one investigator, his name is Kim Je Oo. He showed up to church with his fried who is a member, and we met with them. he doesn't really have a lot of interest right now, but he is a really fun kid, and has loads of potential.
as for finding new investigators, we have been trying to get outside as much as we can and talk to people on the streets, we have significantly less time to dothings like that wecause we have work in the office todo, so when we do get to do it, it means alot more. we also have been working on a plan and effort to break down the mighty wall between missionary missionary work, and member missionary work. If there is one thing i could ask you all to do at home, it would be PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share the gospel with everyone you can. not in just telling people about your beliefs, but by living them, showing Christ-like love, and fearlessly sharing the sweet peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ with our brothers and sisters all around us who need it just as much as we do.
WE do alot of work here trying to find people through our own efforts, and there are members who do do member missionary work, but largely the missionaries do what they do, and the members do what they do. and it isn't that we don't want to work together, but for one reason of another we don't. and that needs to change. it isn't one persons fault or another, all of us missionaries and members need to change. i need to be better about showing my love to members all the time, that is just one thing, we are all doing the same work and the Lord has established a system for missionary work to be done, ad it is when members, and full time missionaries work together.
With faith all things are possible.
WE had a Halloween party, of rater went to a Halloween party last Saturday it was put on well be elder Dietz! we are in the same district now. it has been a while since Pohang. Apparently they were told the day before that they needed to plan everything from a haunted house to the games and refreshments. but it turned out well.
We also have mosquitoes in our apartment. so last night we were sleeping just fine, and all of the sudden elder Park(our Korean Assistant) yells "Mosquito!" turns on the lights, and we spent the next ten minutes trying to kill two mosquitoes that had gotten through our house. i think they come in through the drain. but when they buzz by your ear it is the most annoying thing in the world.
It is getting colder so hopefully all of the mosquitoes will die soon. they will be back, but it will be nice when they are gone.
ive also been running lately, okay ill admit i didn't run today or yesterday, but ive been more consistent that i have in a while. i think elder powell was the last time i ran this consistently. but the funny thing is im not really losing weight. im not gaining right now, but im not losing... ill take it for now. i should probably change my diet. that would help a lot i think. i don't eat terrible, but i could eat better.
and finally. for the Korean. it is better than it was that is for sure. honestly i don't know a good way to tell you how good or bad i am at Korean, but i can do missionary work. and that is what matters. at this point grammar is understandable. the thing that can make understanding harder is when people use words i don't know. but with time it will all work out. the gift of tongues is real.
I love you all and i hope that i was able to answer some questions. I love serving in Korea! the people are amazing, and i know that God Loves us
Love,
