we met with one of our investigators last night after english class, and he took us to a duk-bokk-i reastuarant (it is rice cake and fish cake and meat and a rett pepper paste sauce) I like it, except for the fact that as far as my track record goes every time i eat it something i am wearing inevitably gets destroyed. now so last noght! We were victorious as far as keeping my clothes clean. but it was one of the hottest things i have eaten in korea to date. I was sweating.... alot. at first it was ok, but as the night went on it kept getting hotter and hotter. even elder powell who LOVES spicy food said "yeah, that was pretty hot". but it was good. really good i would probably eat it again.
the other day we saw the biggest spider i have seen in my entire life. we were looking for a less-active and on the window of a store was a spider that was probably 3 inches in diamiter. I know it is not as big as the spiders in south america, but considering that the biggest bug i have seen was a scorpion that i smashed with a hammer while going scorpion hunting... i was afraid. we also went under a bridge. a low bridge. I dont have anything against low bridges, but this one had so many spiders on the roof. so i guess the moral of the story is there are alot of spiders in korea, and most of them are really big.
another time we were meeting with another one of our investigators and while we were sitting in the park talking with him i fell something kind of ticklish on my hand. so naturally i look down to see what is is and youll never guess what it was
A SPIDER!
so i (rather aggressively) shook it off, and i coulldnt see it anymore(out of sight out of mind right?) we keep teaching and it is going pretty well i think we weere testifying about the plan of salvation at this point, and i see a very farmiliar looking spider on our investigator...
I couldnt tell you how it got there, but i probably accidentally trew a spider on him. he killed it fast though so it wasnt that big of a deal.
right now the weather is very hot. i will try and describe it..
imagine taking a shower,
and then you never dry off,
its hot, and very humid, but we are doing great. elder powell keeps me motivated. he is really good at that. last night our investigator told us a story about how he went to uzbekistan in the summer and it was over 40 degrees celsius 104 degrees fairenheiht. and he took a six hour taxi ride with no ait conditioning, and when he stopped to buy water it was almost as hot as the air. so Im greatful that the Lord has blessed us wis abundant water, and cold refridgerators, and airconditioning, and al sorts of things that you never really think of.
today during personal study i read the story of abinadai. He is one of My favorite people. His faith was and still is unshakeable. when he got the commandment from the Lord to go tell king noah that he was not following the commandments of the Lord and he needed to repent or suffer the wrath of Almighty God. He did it. and he did it to the very end. I hope that one day We all can be like abinadai, steadfast, immoveable, and unshakeable in our faith. Willing to die for it, but more importantly, willing to live every day for the Lord and show the world exactly what it means to be a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I know that as we try to do that he will support us and be with us every step of the way.
i know the churh is true
i love you all and have a great great week!
