SO the transfer news came... and i will no longer be serving on jeju island. i have been transferred to Daegu City Suseong Ward to whitewash train on the B team. its pretty exciting. thats why i wasn't able to email yesterday because our whole day was spent going back and forth and everywhere from jeju to busan to daegu and by the time we actually got to our house in daegu city it was almost 9 pm. and today we are in pohang.
so the way the training schedule works at first is right now i have a temporary companion named elder trentman who was just the Assistant to the President. he will be finishing up his mission training in pohang. and for two days or so we are preparing for the training of the missionary who is going to come. the new missionaries do not actually arrive until tonight at 10pm. and we wont see them until we go to busan tomorrow and get assigned our new companions. so it has been eventful so far.
as of right now i know where our house is and where the church is and that is about it. the Zone leaders in our house are going to have to help us out a little bit. but i am really excited to have the opportunity. it wont be easy, but it will be a great opportunity to serve and a great blessing.
so in the suesong ward there is also the military branch which consists of approximately 70 american members who live on or near the us army base in daegu. so we cover both that branch and a ward of about 140 korean members. so it is a little bigger than the 20 or 30 people that came out every week in seoguipo. i've heard nothing but great things about my new area and am very excited to be able to serve here.
we finished up the last week of last transfer and it went well. nothing too different except for the fact that on church on sunday right at 10:00 about 25 members from seattle walked in. effectively doubling the size of the branch. it was quite the experience and i don't think the Korean members really knew what to make of it. but it all got organized and fast and testimony meeting went very well.
so while elder trentman and i have been preparing to train we have thought a lot about that kind of trainers we want to be and what kind of missionary we want to help our trainee become. and there are a million things that could be said. but if there is one thing that i hope happens this transfer is that my companion knows i love the lord and i love him. in training meeting today the principle of Love was emphasized very heavily and there is no doubt in my mind that if we don't have love and charity we are truly nothing. so i really need to really try and continue developing charity and love for everyone.
i hope you all have a great week and do something astonishing.
